Sugar
the drug people think is not a drug
Refined sugar is so much like the human body's internal sugar that it
enters the blood stream too fast. This gives you a high followed by a low
as the body attempts to compensate for the overload. Repeated hits of
sugar take their toll over the years.
It was about 1982 when I first read "Sugar Blues" and, after
reading quite a few other books on the subject, I still recommend it
highly.
